Camras at the Illinois Institute of Technology

Our Core Beliefs

Our scholars are expected to make meaningful contributions to the campus and the IIT community in three focus areas we call the Camras Pillars: service, leadership, and professional development and research. We support our scholars in their commitment to fulfilling the Camras Pillars by providing and promoting programming specific to each year a Camras Scholar spends at IIT.

LEADERSHIP

Through the Leadership Academy at IIT, Camras Scholars are afforded significant opportunities to develop their skills as young leaders.

RESEARCH

A partnership between Camras students and on-campus or off-campus professionals, including Camras alumni, so that they can actively explore their fields of study

.

SERVICE

Over the course of their undergraduate study at IIT, Camras Scholars are encouraged to complete at least 100 hours of community service and 150 hours of campus service to the IIT community.

More than a team – a community.

Our Executive Board

The people who make Camras, Camras.

Wesely Lo

– President –

President of Camras. Undergrad Researcher. Publicity Chair of Biomedical Engineering Society.

I’m a competitive hip hop dancer who’s traveled the country. An aspiring freelance illustrator who loves to do random art as well as commissions if they come my way. I love challenging myself to strive for the bar that’s higher than I can reach. I love food… it’s my love forever and always. Second to that would be my love for sleep and taking naps on lazy days when I’m not going crazy being a BME student. I’m currently pursuing my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and my M.S. in Chemical Engineering at my time here at Illinois Tech. My plans after receiving my degrees is to go into industry work (W.L.Gore, Pfizer or even something local like Abbot) and hopefully end up in the R&D position. I’ve done a lot of research in my previous years as well as poster presentations from local to national forums. Lastly, I love quotes and Disney. “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” – Walt Disney

Kristin Wills

– Vice President –

I am the vice president of Camras, involved in research on campus, and a part of the Illinois Tech Division III Swimming and Diving team.

I get very excited about the prospect of trying out new things, whether it be learning new material for research, exploring a new city that I am calling home, or skydiving, I am always willing to put my best foot forward. Additionally, I love peanut butter kiss cookies and meeting new people.

Jasmine Baste – Treasurer –

Camras Treasurer (duh)/Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority Philanthropy Chair/AMSA Treasury committee/Undergraduate Admissons Volunteer /MSA/BMES/facemask lover/Meme Queen I am a really good napper and I stay up way too late looking at memes but it’s okay, I didn’t choose this way of life, this way of life chose me. I’m majoring in BME and doing pre-med and possibly psych on the side. Other than studying, meme-ing, sleeping(sleeping? who is she?) and eating, in my free time I eat some more, explore Chicago, facemask, baking, running and painting my nails. I remember looking at the old Camras website before coming here and being like “woah these people seem cool” and then I became one of those people and it’s just like “woah these people are even cooler now that I’m here” Tech yea!

Joel Meyer – Secretary –

I am involved in Greek life with the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, I work in Undergraduate Admissions as a Student Ambassador, and I am the secretary for both Circle K International and the Camras Scholars Program. I like to cook, try new restaurants, see musicals, explore downtown, and shop at thrift stores. Levi

– Retreat Chair –

Noah – Head of Events Team –

I work in the Office of Undergraduate Admission as a Student Ambassador, I am the Head of the Events Team for Camras Scholars, and I am a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. I also serve on the executive board for Colleges Against Cancer and the American Society of Civil Engineers. My favorite hobby is nature photography, and I have been fortunate enough to explore many places both within the US and abroad. Some of the best places I have visited include Iceland, Banff and Jasper National Parks in Canada, Everglades National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park. There’s nothing more amazing than going out into the middle of nature and taking the beauty around you. With so many different places around the world and so many photos waiting to be taken, every trip I’ve gone on has been unique and memorable. I can’t wait to explore more places in the future! I am a third year Applied Mathematics major looking to become an actuary after I graduate. Some things that are on my bucket list include: snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, seeing the Northern Lights, going on an African safari, traveling to Antarctica, and seeing a snow leopard in the Himalayas.

My favorite hobbies are sleeping and Netflix but they really interfere with each other because I always sleep when I want to be watching Netflix and I’m always watching netflix when I should be sleeping. Currently the class of 2019, but I am planning on declaring my coterminal degree in structural engineering soon so 2020 here I come.
